Grade Teachers
Classroom Freakonomics
One of the
greatest 21st century challenges for students and teachers alike is to
assess critically the myriad claims made in the social sciences. We’re
presented with countless assertions that assume causality, fail to recognize
perverse incentives and are oblivious to unintended consequences. Using
Steven Levitt’s engaging stories (cheating teachers! obsessive parenting!)
from the award-winning Freakonomics as a foundation, this course will
explore the analytical tools of economics, an endeavor that should help
students and teachers alike perceive the world with greater clarity. Not
just for social studies teachers! Bring along a non-social studies
teacher/colleague for half price.
